SOLUBLE MACHINING FLUIDS

BACTERIAL AND FUNGAL INFECTION CLEANING PROCEDURE GUIDE

A simple guide to COMBAT Foul Monday morning smells. Exhausted fluid emulsions. Contaminated Swarf.  Bacterial / Fungal infections. Splitting and degrading of emulsions.

 

1.  Empty Machine removing all residue sludge after the fluid has gone

I. Operator should wear protective gloves, overalls, eye protection and face mask

II. Remove and Launder all contaminated clothing

III. Wash hands thoroughly after completion and before eating

 

2.  Fill with fresh water

Add SILVER FUNGIBAC SC System Cleaner at 2%.

Circulate each machine 24/48 hours.

 

3. Walkways

 

Attention should be given to all walkways and wet areas around the machine area

 

Scrub with area with a solution of SILVER FUNGIBAC SC System Cleaner at 2% in water.

 

4.  Empty and Flush again with clean water.

 

5.  Fill with new fluid

Because of the bacterial/ fungal infestation, and any possible carry over then add an additional 2% SILVERTREAT 3000 FC Fluid Conditioner into the sump. This is the bio-stability package of a fluid, it will kill anything else off and ensure all is clean and sterilised.

 

6. Repeat on every machine showing signs of contamination.

 

7. Treat all machines in the workshop with SILVER FUNGIBAC SC for protection

 

The Future

There is a need to protect against and remove tramp oil build up which will spoil any fluid and make sure dilutions are maintained by adding regular new tops up of fluid

The additives deplete in the emulsion that’s why adding regular new tops up when needed balances the in use emulsion.

Do not top up machines containing contaminated fluids. This will exacerbate the problem and encourage further growth.

Remove fluid and repeat cleaning procedures 1 - 6

 

A refractometer will enable the person preparing the fresh fluid to maintain the correct dilution levels.
